Introduction

Personal Solution-Pac (PSP) is designed for stand-alone computers or LAN servers, to work with a EATON UPS and protect the computer or server during power supply interruptions.

The PSP software ensures that all computers are correctly shutdown.

In addition, PSP controls the data exchanged between the UPS and the computer.

You install PSP on the single computer connected to the EATON UPS via serial or USB port.

Or you install PSP on the Novell server serially connected to the EATON UPS.
In the event of a power failure, all the users connected to the server are warned and the server shuts down properly.

PSP ensure three functions:

  • communication for managing the link to the UPS,
  • monitoring all the measurements required when an event is detected on the UPS,
  • a graphical status viewer that displays and evaluates UPS activity and performance.

PSP operates in the following sequence:

  • PSP establishes communication with the UPS by transmission of start-up and initialization (INIT) commands.
  • PSP starts the UPS periodic supervision cycle.
  • PSP carries out specifications (broadcasting messages, shutting down the system) depending on the state of the UPS.
